A Room With A View
Actually, every room has a view.
A recent study for a vacant lot over and up, in Underwood, WA. Sitting on one of the victim sites of the 2007 bluff fire, a new residence is on the study boards here. A single story scheme, as dictated by the Gorge Scenic Area height restrictions, the residence taking its cues from the surrounding farm structures. Simple in its form and material palette of stone, wood, and glass, the house slides out of, and sits calmly in, the landscape, and enjoys the view. Like there wasn’t any fire at all.
White Salmon Cliff
Conceptual studies for a nondescript cliff dwelling in White Salmon that needs a new deck, and a mission statement for its world class view. Partially enclosed for a new eating area off the kitchen, and separated from the master suite deck on the opposite side of the house, this new deck, well, we don’t want it to look like a deck. Some conceptual thinking as well for the residences new entry sequence, and front door courtyard area. This nondescript residence has a new language waiting for it.
Discovery Center Solar Structure
We did some quick conceptual thinking for a solar structure out at the Discovery Center in the Dalles. A spot to congregate, a place to learn, about solar power and wind power, and a place to sit down in the shade. And it looks like it’s poised like a rocket launcher, but more friendly.
